Grindsbrook Barns are at the northern end of the village of Edale in the Derbyshire Peak District.

ARRIVING BY TRAIN

Edale has its own train station, approximately 30mins from Sheffield and 45mins from Manchester Piccadilly.

 

ARRIVING BY CAR

How to get there:

NB Do not rely exclusively on satnav; some systems place this postcode several miles away from the barns, in a neighbouring valley!

FROM LONDON (journey approx. 3hrs)

Take the M1 as far as Junction 29 and head into Chesterfield on the A617.

Follow signs to Chatsworth and leave Chesterfield on the A619 heading due west to Baslow.

In Baslow you come to a roundabout, take the A623 towards Stockport.

About 5 mins later you come to Calver and a crossroads. Turn right at the lights onto the B6001 towards Grindleford.

In Grindleford take a left turn to Hathersage.

In Hathersage you come to a T Junction at the George Hotel, turn left towards Hope on the A6187.

In Hope take a right turn by the side of the church towards Edale.

About 15-20 mins later you come to Edale, turn right after the car park and go past the station under the bridge towards the center of the village (see map).

Head past the Old Nag’s head pub, the road becomes track and the entrance to Grindsbrook Barn is the first gate on your left after you hit the track.

 

FROM MANCHESTER

Take the A6 through Stockport towards Chapel-en-le-Frith.

Carry on past the first turn off for Chapel and take the next exit, marked Castleton and Hope.

The first turning to the left (after approx. 10 mins) takes you up steeply to the top of Mam Tor and down into the Vale of Edale.

Follow the road down and across the river at the bottom of the valley and bear right into Edale. Take the first left towards the station, go under the bridge towards the centre of the village (see map).

Head past the Old Nag’s head pub, the road becomes track and the entrance to Grindsbrook Barn is the first gate on your left after you hit the track.

 

FROM THE SOUTH WEST

Take the M6 to Stoke-on-Trent, come off at Junction 15 and follow the A500 through Stoke-on-Trent to the junction with the A53 (Etruria rd), turn onto the A53 in the direction of Leek and Buxton.

Follow the A53 all the way to Buxton and in the centre of Buxton take the A6 towards Chapel-en-le-Frith.

Turn right onto the A623 before you reach Chapel, and follow the A623 for a couple of Km. When you reach a sharp right turn at a roundabout bear left off the A623 following signs to Castleton and Hope.

Bear left when you see a right turn into Castleton and follow the road round to the left until you see a sharp right turn up a steep slope just after a car park (approx 1Km from the Castleton turning).

Take the right turn and head over Mam Tor into the Vale of Edale.

FROM THE NORTH EAST

Get onto Sheffield’s inner ring road and head round until you get to University Square, a large roundabout on the western side of the city centre.

Take the Manchester Road (A57) out of Sheffield, past the Rivelin Dams and onto the moors.

At the Ladybower Reservoir take a left onto the A6013 towards Bamford.

Go through Bamford until you reach a T-Junction with the A6187, turn right towards Hope.

In Hope take a right turn by the side of the church towards Edale.
